    This proposes changes to the requirements for Detached Accessory Dwelling Units (detached ADUs or DADUs). Currently they are allowed on 15,000 square foot lots or larger. This proposal will lower it to 14,520 which is exactly a third an acre. The proposal would also limit detached ADUs on steep slopes.

    This change is to comply with the new state code that was passed this legislative session that prohibits municipalities from restricting unobstructed tandem parking from satisfying two parking spaces as part of a minimum parking space requirement.

    The applicant previously requested to do a Development Code amendment to Chapter 20, Home Occupations. The City Council directed staff to draft a Development Agreement to allow the Beckstrom’s specific home occupation with the needs that it has.
