Urban Forestry Development Code Amendment
This item received a positive recommendation from the Planning Commission.
Lehi City is proposing a change to add a maximum of 60% rock mulch to commercial and multi-family developments. The City has seen an increase in 100% rock mulch submittals. Plants have a harder time surviving when they are surrounded by rock mulch, and it also increases the urban heat island. Grass is also limited where it can go to reduce water usage. This amendment encourages greater use of native plants which use less water and also reduce the urban heat.
