Is there anything going in on the big open area between the village baker and the Hilton garden inn? close to the freeway along a ridge dr?

joshr asked about 2 months ago

There were approved office buildings but their approval has expired. Meaning they would have to resubmit plans. 125 apartment units were approved to go on the site near SR-92. The owner's of the property have indicated their intent to have a variety of commercial (restaurants, retail, and office) uses in that area. Again nothing has been submitted or approved besides the expired office buildings.

Cell tower development at Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy. In regards to the answer provided from Lehi from the FCC, the FCC is not a health department. The article that was posted from cancer.org states: At this time, there’s no strong evidence that exposure to RF waves from cell phone towers causes any noticeable health effects. However, this does not mean that the RF waves from cell phone towers have been proven to be absolutely safe. Most expert organizations agree that more research is needed to help clarify this, especially for any possible long-term effects. People only focus on what they WANT to hear. Here is an article with various different sources and places on how cell phone tower radiation is harmful: https://www.radiationhealthrisks.com/is-cell-phone-tower-radiation-harmful/

Thank you for sharing. Cell Towers are a complicated issue that are necessary in our existing culture, but do come with challenges including potential health risks. The City will look into the information available and consider where cell towers are allowed.

I was told that there is a Cell Phone tower being built only a few feet away from Ignite Entrepeneurship Academy. Is this correct? If so, is this something the school requested, the city or who is responsible?

    Paula asked 2 months ago

Yes there is an approved stealth cell tower facility at Ignite Academy. It involves a private contract between the school and the cell company. The City did review and approve the plans because they met all of the City requirements.

Also I found this on the American Cancer Society Website

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has said this about cell phone towers near homes or schools:

“[R]adiofrequency emissions from antennas used for cellular and PCS [personal communications service] transmissions result in exposure levels on the ground that are typically thousands of times below safety limits. These safety limits were adopted by the FCC based on the recommendations of expert organizations and endorsed by agencies of the Federal Government responsible for health and safety. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that such towers could constitute a potential health hazard to nearby residents or students.”

A request was heard in September 2021; for rezoning and approval for plans of a new subdivision. Located on 5 acres at 7542 n 8730 w (1100 w). What was the decision on that? If approved, do you know when the construction will start?

    LexieDawn asked 5 months ago

Thank you for the question. The zone change and concept layout were given a negative recommendation by the Planning Commission and the applicant decided not to move forward to City Council. No new proposals have been submitted by the property owner or land agent so no construction will happen at this time.

For the bus station that is supposed to go in on 2100 North East of the freeway do we have a time line? Are the storage units and homes in that section going to be gone?

Cami asked about 1 year ago

Sorry for the delayed response. There is no time line for the future bus rapid transit (BRT) line. A developer is in the process of purchasing the storage units. And the homes may redevelop in the future as the surrounding area develops and as UTA finalizes plans for the BRT.

What is planned/approved for the corner property located at Pioneer Crossing and Center Street across from the villas subdivision?

MHS22 asked over 1 year ago

There have been no recent plan proposals submitted or approved on the vacant NE or SW properties. Alpine School District does own the property west of the Villas Subdivision, but nothing has been submitted by them at this time. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Planner over this area. (Jacob Curtis- 385-201-2522)
