Lehi City has proposed updates to Chapter 35 Community Forestry. Most of the changes are to update the previous "tree selection guide" list to "public street tree recommendation list". And other slight clarifying language that does not change the existing intent of the Code.

The main change is to add a paragraph to protect migratory birds. These birds are already protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Gold Eagle Protection Act. The proposed update requires the landowner or developer to pay for and receive a written survey from an environmental consultant before removing trees that have nest of migratory birds. This change complies with both Federal and State requirements.
